Srinagar, Sep 07 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally dry weather over the next two weeks, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers expected at isolated and scattered places, the Meteorological Centre here said on Monday.
According to the forecast, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Union Territory will remain generally dry from September 8 to 12, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers possible at isolated places.
From September 13 to 15, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered places, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours, the Met Centre said.
The weather is expected to remain generally dry again from September 16 to 19, although isolated brief spells of rain or thundershowers cannot be ruled out.
The Meteorological Centre has advised farmers to continue harvesting apples and paddy, along with other agricultural operations.
Meanwhile, temperatures remained relatively moderate across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 27.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature 1.2 degrees below normal.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 26.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.2 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded 23.9 degrees Celsius and 10.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a maximum of 28.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.2 degrees Celsius.
Gulmarg recorded a maximum temperature of 18.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled at 8.4 degrees Celsius.
In Jammu division, Jammu recorded a maximum of 32.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.2 degrees Celsius. Kathua was the warmest among the listed stations, recording a maximum of 32.9 degrees Celsius.Kathua also received the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, recording 21.8 mm, while Jammu received 0.2 mm and Katra 0.8 mm, according to the weather data.
The Met Centre said no major weather activity is expected during the forecast period, though brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated or scattered places—(KNO)
